LAUNCH BOX
Growing up and moving out on your own can be an exciting and sometimes scary season for a young adult. We can help ease this transition by giving them a gift to help them on their way. Read below for more information or click on Amazon Wishlist link to see our young adult needs.
-
A launch box is a cloth or soft sided laundry basket filled with everyday necessities and supplies a young men and women (ages 18-21) may need for transition into a new apartment or house. These boxes are then given to Tennessee Department of Children Services workers to give to the young adult as they transition out of the foster care system. These boxes serve as tangible and practical gifts of encouragement.
-
Each year thousands of teens age out of the foster care system and often need extra support to help them start their new lives as adults. Providing them with everyday necessities and supplies not only helps launch them into independent living, it also shows them that they are not alone.
-
Anyone can fill a launch box. You can do it as an individual or with family, friends, coworkers or your small group.
-
Use the Amazon Wishlist link below to order items online or to use as a guide when shopping for supplies. Consider also including items not on the list such as gift cards, notes of encouragement and non-perishable food items. Please do NOT include used items, vitamins, holiday or seasonal items.
